Therapy Dogs Visit NY Firefighters & Their Timing Couldn’t Have Been More Perfect

While serving overseas as an Army pilot, Kevin Bubolz had the pleasure of meeting Zac. Sure, he worked for the military as well, but he wasn’t like any other colleague… he was a therapy dog! The difference this sweet boy made in the lives of everyone in Kevin’s unit was clear. In fact, this experience inspired Kevin to train a therapy dog of his own. Now, Kevin, his wife Katie, and their two therapy dogs bring joy to all sorts of people.

Ellie and Emma love people. No matter what someone is going through, they are more than happy to keep them company. For a group of firefighters who recently experienced a devastating loss, getting a visit from them could not have been more perfectly timed. Watch the video below to catch a glimpse at their heartwarming visit!

One of their retired members had just passed away.

“This was the light in those firefighters’ dark moment. So glad to see your girls could give them a smile on their faces, during their grief,” someone pointed out in reply to this touching video. Another commenter added, “That visit was meant to be, right place right time.”

Research isn’t needed to recognize how much comfort and joy dogs can provide for us. That said, initial findings are proving that a dog’s company truly does benefit our health in a number of ways. For example, therapy dogs have been shown to lower blood pressure and reduce anxiety. Plus, being around these pups even releases hormones that have the same effect on us as eating chocolate!
