Goose Who Was Orphaned As A Gosling Finds New Human Mom & Their Bond Is Beautiful

A goose runs toward a woman, wings spread out wide. The woman holds her arms out wide, waiting to embrace the bird

TV host Rob Stewart has had the chance to meet all sorts of interesting people since his PBS show, Rob on the Road, started in 2012. This documentary series showcases folks who live in Northern California in particular. This includes a woman named Cathy. There are a number of animals at her home, but she has a bond with one in particular that is unlike any of the rest.

Fittingly, this animal has been named Friend. He is an orphaned goose who seems to consider Cathy as his human mom now. The love between these two is oh-so-sweet. Sometimes, as Cathy approaches the goose, he will come flying right into her arms — quite literally! See one of these moments for yourself in the heartwarming video below. (Click the post to watch.)

Sadly, Friend lost his mom when he was just a young gosling. Thankfully, however, Cathy was right there when he needed her most. Because Cathy was around Friend so soon after his tragic lost, he quickly formed a very strong bond with her. And, as you can see, it is a bond that lasts to this very day!

“When people say animals don’t have feelings… I just roll my eyes… cause look at that!” one viewer points out, with another person adding, “Friend is now a friend to us all.”

The deeply meaningful bond between Cathy and Friend the goose is not entirely unique.

Humans have been forming special relationships with our animal friends for a long, long time. And these relationships should not be undervalued. Take, for example, this autistic little girl who has a special connection with wildlife. Or how about the girl below who loves reading to her foal friend?

These beautiful bonds just go to show that animals and human can be family, too. ❤️
